1.25 The Valentine's Day Edition
Updated: Feb 8, 2020
Bonjour, Charles here -
Valentine’s Day is one of the Fromage’s favorite holidays to celebrate with family and friends. As you can see above, one of our cousins actually got a modeling job in conjunction with this holiday of love. Granted, I do not consider the midriff choice to be especially tasteful, but a gig is a gig.
Back home in our beloved France, Saint Valentin is a huge celebration, and we hope to bring a bit of that love right here to our tiny little bistro on West Vliet Street. So slip into something more comfortable and enjoy this issue ofThe Slice.
A Valentine’s Wine Tasting
Thursday, February 13th
The perfect way to kick off Valentine's Day weekend! Join us for a wine tasting consisting of three reds, three whites and a dessert wine along with the debut of our newest house-made snacks. Impress that special someone with a lovely event designed to delight! Our intimate bistro has limited seating. Must be 21 to attend.
Table Reservations? Really?
Friday, February 14th
4:00 - 11:00
Table reservations will be available for the most romantic bar in town. (Yeah, we know we lost to At Random, but come on! You can’t even see each other in there!)
We don’t know how this will go, but we are open to giving it a whirl just in case you wanted to propose or something. Call or text Tony at 414-305-1458, and we’ll make sure you have a spot. The bar will still be available to anyone who strolls in.
First-Ever Cribbage Tournament at CEF!
Wednesday, February 26th, 7:00
You've asked for it, and here it is! We will play only two-handed games because of our tiny little space.
Here's how to participate:
Sign up when you are in the bistro, (16 spots available)
or call Tony at 414-305-1458,
or take your chances and just show up.
The winner of the tournament will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to Fromage and, of course, a feature in The Slice!
The Year of the Mouse
Chinese New Year Celebration
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Chinese New Year! As you may have figured out, the Fromage family does not hail from China, but so enjoyed in learning about this delightful holiday. A huge 谢谢 to Yunfang Lan, Brookfield Central High School Chinese teacher, for supplying the beautiful decorations. They really made our bistro shine!
Special Thanks to a Special Friend and Neighbor
We would like to thank Ms. Andrea Loss who was integral to the opening of Charles E. Fromage. She created the beautiful toile curtains that cover up the otherwise unsightly mess of angular, utilitarian sinks. Lifelong seamstress, her work can be seen on many stages in Milwaukee where her costuming skills are on parade. Additionally, she is a dedicated MPS teacher who has transformed her love for learning into positive transformation in the lives of many young people in Milwaukee.
Thank you for being a cheerleader for Fromage and a great friend to the Fromage family.
Charles Fromage and the Mustard Queens:
An Affair to Remember
Our second visit from the Mustard Queens came right on the heels of their media splash in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Congrats, Queens! And thank you for sharing your talents with our customers.
If you weren't able to get tickets for the pairing menu with the Queens, stay tuned. They will be back when the weather warms up for a patio treat!
Save the Date! Sunday, March 15th 4:00
Charles O. Fromage is excited to invite you to our St. Patrick's Day Party. Friend of Fromage and son of Ireland John Gleeson will be joined by friends and share his gift of storytelling to the sounds of the fiddle. $10.00 will buy you a spot in the pub and a beverage of your choice. Our full menu will be available along with Irish Root Soup, Honore's Irishfest award-winning lemon poppy seed scones, and Irish coffee.
*Charles E. Fromage is a green-beer-free zone.
